A Fitting Programme 10 Days after the Olympics

The program for the 49th edition of Athletissima, taking place on the 21st and 22nd August 2024, is shaping up to satisfy even the most demanding fans. Meeting Director Jacky Delapierre secured the events he wanted after the traditional World Athletics Council meeting in Monaco.

On Thursday, 22nd August, thirteen Diamond League events will be held at the Pontaise, plus one additional race, the women’s 4x100m relay. These are all events in which the top Swiss athletes are expected to shine. They include the 100m hurdles, the 110m hurdles, the women’s 100m, the women’s 800m, the women’s high jump, the men’s 200m and 400m, the men’s long jump and the men’s 1500m.

The other events on the programme are the women’s 5000m, the women’s 400m hurdles, the women’s shot put, and the men’s javelin.

It goes without saying that in all these disciplines, many of the biggest international stars will be present. Athletissima is scheduled ten days after the end of the athletics events at the Paris Olympics. Many of the American and Jamaican stars will still be in Europe.

Athletissima will be held over two days. The City Event will take place on Wednesday, 21st August at the Place de la Navigation in Ouchy, on the banks of the lake, and will also be an official Diamond League event.

As in 2022, it will be the most spectacular event of the moment for this type of competition: the men’s pole vault. It’s too early to announce any names, but, rest assured, it is certain that the organisers will be doing everything in their power to attract athletics’ No. 1 star, world recordholder Armand Duplantis.

Tickets sales open at 8am on Wednesday, 24th April.
