Noah Lyles, Kishane Thompson, and Shericka Jackson have in turn signed on to compete at Athletissima on August 20.
The organizers of the meet, who were present over the weekend at the US Trials in Eugene, took the opportunity to sign several stars who will light up the meet on August 20 in Lausanne, particularly in the sprint events.
The 100m at La Pontaise will have the feel of a World or Olympic final. At the starting line will be Olympic champion Noah Lyles (USA) facing Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville. Thompson is the fastest man of the year, with his 9.75 seconds run in Kingston at the end of June.
Courtney Lindsey (9.82) will also be competing, along with, as previously announced, the 2021 Olympic champion, Italy’s Marcell Jacobs. Swiss athlete Timothé Mumenthaler, European 200m champion, will have to hold his own against all these elite sprinters.
The 100m at Athletissima, the third-to-last stop in the 2025 Wanda Diamond League, will be designated a “Diamond League +” event, with increased prize money.
In the 110m hurdles, American Cordell Tinch, the world’s number one this season with 12.87, will start as the favorite. Athletissima also announces the participation of his compatriot Trey Cunningham, Spain’s Enrique Llopis, and the “sensation” of the weekend, Just Kwaou-Mathey, who made a splash at the French Championships (12.99, second fastest time in 2025). Swiss record-holder Jason Joseph will also be a strong contender in this race.
The women’s 200m will bring together Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith and Jamaica’s Shericka Jackson, the second-fastest woman in history.
All the top athletes will also be present in the women’s high jump: world record holder and Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh (UKR), her major Australian rivals Nicola Olyslagers and Eleanor Patterson, and Serbia’s Angelina Topic, among others.
Three weeks ahead of the World Championships in Tokyo, the Lausanne meet promises to deliver some remarkable performances.
