The meeting features no fewer than nine Olympic champions, eleven world champions and fourteen European champions. As the race for qualification to the Diamond League Final in Brussels reaches its climax, many athletes will be chasing not only victory but also stadium records, world-leading marks\u2014and perhaps even a world record. Here&#8217;s what to watch.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"nock38\" data-start=\"567\" data-end=\"602\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"602\">Women\u2019s Javelin (6:50 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"603\" data-end=\"1219\">With the exception of China\u2019s <strong data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"645\">Zizi Yan<\/strong>, the season\u2019s top throwers are all in Lausanne. The field is remarkably close on paper. Croatia\u2019s <strong data-start=\"744\" data-end=\"758\">Sara Kolak<\/strong> arrives full of confidence after her surprise European title in Birmingham, ten years after her Olympic triumph. However, Colombia\u2019s <strong data-start=\"892\" data-end=\"919\">Flor Denis Ruiz Hurtado<\/strong>, who has already thrown <strong data-start=\"944\" data-end=\"954\">67.34m<\/strong> this season, starts as the favourite. Serbia\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1002\" data-end=\"1021\">Adriana Vilagos<\/strong> (63.83m) and reigning Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"1061\" data-end=\"1081\">Haruka Kitaguchi<\/strong> (Japan) will also be strong contenders. Swiss fans will be watching <strong data-start=\"1150\" data-end=\"1166\">Leonie H\u00fcgli<\/strong>, just 20 years old, making her Diamond League debut.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"10kqzvy\" data-start=\"1221\" data-end=\"1258\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"1225\" data-end=\"1258\">Men\u2019s Triple Jump (7:10 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1767\">One of the highlights of the evening. Italy\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1305\" data-end=\"1328\">Andy Diaz Hernandez<\/strong> stunned the athletics world by soaring to <strong>18.15min<\/strong> Birmingham, finishing just <strong data-start=\"1412\" data-end=\"1430\">14 centimetres<\/strong> short of Jonathan Edwards\u2019 legendary world record while looking as though he still had more to give. He faces compatriot <strong data-start=\"1552\" data-end=\"1573\">Andrea Dallavalle<\/strong>, bronze medallist in Birmingham, current Diamond League leaders <strong data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1654\">Jordan Scott<\/strong> (Jamaica) and <strong data-start=\"1669\" data-end=\"1685\">Yasser Triki<\/strong> (Algeria), as well as experienced Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"1737\" data-end=\"1755\">Pedro Pichardo<\/strong> (Portugal).<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1wonuww\" data-start=\"1769\" data-end=\"1809\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"1773\" data-end=\"1809\">Women\u2019s 400m Hurdles (8:04 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"2166\">The breakout star of the season, Slovakia\u2019s <strong data-start=\"1854\" data-end=\"1874\">Emma Zapletalova<\/strong>, starts as the athlete to beat. Can she challenge <strong data-start=\"1925\" data-end=\"1940\">Femke Bol\u2019s<\/strong> stadium record of <strong data-start=\"1959\" data-end=\"1968\">52.25<\/strong>, now that the Dutch star has moved up to the 800m? American <strong data-start=\"2029\" data-end=\"2046\">Anna Cockrell<\/strong>, also under 53 seconds this season, and Jamaica\u2019s <strong data-start=\"2097\" data-end=\"2116\">Rushell Clayton<\/strong> are expected to provide the stiffest competition.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"17i4805\" data-start=\"2168\" data-end=\"2206\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2206\">Women\u2019s Pole Vault (8:05 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2207\" data-end=\"2646\">Apart from injured athletes, the very best are all here. Three-time world champion <strong data-start=\"2290\" data-end=\"2304\">Katie Moon<\/strong> (USA), Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"2329\" data-end=\"2345\">Nina Kennedy<\/strong> (Australia) and two-time European champion <strong data-start=\"2389\" data-end=\"2407\">Angelica Moser<\/strong> (Switzerland) are expected to battle for victory, alongside <strong data-start=\"2468\" data-end=\"2484\">Sandi Morris<\/strong> (USA), who leads the world this season with <strong data-start=\"2529\" data-end=\"2538\">4.90m<\/strong>. The Lausanne crowd will hope to lift Moser towards her Swiss record of <strong data-start=\"2611\" data-end=\"2620\">4.88m<\/strong>, should conditions allow.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"aiz6f\" data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2680\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"2652\" data-end=\"2680\">Women\u2019s 200m (8:15 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2681\" data-end=\"3196\">Can Birmingham\u2019s four-time European champion <strong data-start=\"2726\" data-end=\"2738\">Amy Hunt<\/strong> continue her remarkable run against the American and Jamaican sprint stars? Jamaica\u2019s <strong data-start=\"2825\" data-end=\"2845\">Shericka Jackson<\/strong>, the second-fastest woman in history over 200m (21.41), has returned to top form this season with <strong data-start=\"2943\" data-end=\"2952\">21.87<\/strong>, while American <strong data-start=\"2969\" data-end=\"2984\">Kayla White<\/strong> (21.92 in 2026) leads the U.S. challenge. Swiss hopes rest with national champion <strong data-start=\"3067\" data-end=\"3086\">Fabienne Hoenke<\/strong> and local athlete <strong data-start=\"3105\" data-end=\"3123\">L\u00e9onie Pointet<\/strong>, both recent European silver medallists with Switzerland\u2019s 4x100m relay.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1lbzz1j\" data-start=\"3198\" data-end=\"3231\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"3202\" data-end=\"3231\">Men\u2019s Javelin (8:22 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3232\" data-end=\"3625\">Former cricketer <strong data-start=\"3249\" data-end=\"3269\">Rumesh Pathirage<\/strong> has been one of the revelations of the season and tops the world rankings with <strong data-start=\"3349\" data-end=\"3359\">92.62m<\/strong>. Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"3378\" data-end=\"3395\">Neeraj Chopra<\/strong> (India) will be determined to defeat his South Asian rival in Lausanne, while former Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"3498\" data-end=\"3517\">Keshorn Walcott<\/strong> (Trinidad &amp; Tobago) and two-time world champion <strong data-start=\"3566\" data-end=\"3585\">Anderson Peters<\/strong> (Grenada) complete a world-class field.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"97hzwm\" data-start=\"3627\" data-end=\"3673\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"3631\" data-end=\"3673\">Women\u2019s 3000m Steeplechase (8:24 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"3674\" data-end=\"4092\">Bahrain\u2019s <strong data-start=\"3684\" data-end=\"3700\">Winfred Yavi<\/strong> will attack the 2026 world-leading mark of <strong data-start=\"3744\" data-end=\"3755\">8:51.06<\/strong>, currently held by Uganda\u2019s <strong data-start=\"3784\" data-end=\"3803\">Peruth Chemutai<\/strong>. In a field of 17 athletes, she will face strong opposition, particularly from Tunisia\u2019s <strong data-start=\"3893\" data-end=\"3912\">Marwa Bouzayani<\/strong>, instantly recognisable by the headscarf and tights she always races in. Kenya\u2019s <strong data-start=\"3994\" data-end=\"4013\">Faith Cherotich<\/strong> will also be among the favourites. A time under <strong data-start=\"4062\" data-end=\"4070\">8:50<\/strong> is well within reach.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"k9xadh\" data-start=\"4094\" data-end=\"4124\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"4098\" data-end=\"4124\">Men\u2019s 800m (8:40 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4125\" data-end=\"4562\">Expect fireworks. Much like in 2024, when Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"4184\" data-end=\"4205\">Emmanuel Wanyonyi<\/strong> (Kenya) came within just <strong data-start=\"4231\" data-end=\"4257\">two-tenths of a second<\/strong> of David Rudisha\u2019s world record, clocking <strong data-start=\"4300\" data-end=\"4311\">1:41.11<\/strong>. Canada\u2019s <strong data-start=\"4322\" data-end=\"4336\">Marco Arop<\/strong>, who pushed him all the way that day, will be seeking revenge. Algeria\u2019s world silver medallist <strong data-start=\"4433\" data-end=\"4451\">Djamel Sedjati<\/strong> and American <strong data-start=\"4465\" data-end=\"4483\">Brandon Miller<\/strong>, aiming for Bryce Hoppel\u2019s U.S. record of <strong data-start=\"4526\" data-end=\"4537\">1:41.67<\/strong>, add further excitement.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1ybekwg\" data-start=\"4564\" data-end=\"4599\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"4568\" data-end=\"4599\">Men\u2019s Long Jump (8:48 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"4600\" data-end=\"5054\">After finishing runner-up last year in torrential conditions, Switzerland\u2019s <strong data-start=\"4676\" data-end=\"4693\">Simon Ehammer<\/strong> hopes to go one better. Standing in his way are defending Lausanne champion <strong data-start=\"4770\" data-end=\"4785\">Tajay Gayle<\/strong> (Jamaica) and reigning Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"4826\" data-end=\"4849\">Miltiadis Tentoglou<\/strong> (Greece), the only athlete already qualified for the Diamond League Final. <strong data-start=\"4925\" data-end=\"4941\">Gerson Bald\u00e9<\/strong>(Portugal), <strong data-start=\"4954\" data-end=\"4971\">Wayne Pinnock<\/strong> (Jamaica) and <strong data-start=\"4986\" data-end=\"5010\">Bozhidar Saraboyukov<\/strong> (Bulgaria) strengthen an outstanding field.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"r8uqkk\" data-start=\"5056\" data-end=\"5096\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"5060\" data-end=\"5096\">Women\u2019s 100m Hurdles (8:50 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"5097\" data-end=\"5532\">American <strong data-start=\"5106\" data-end=\"5123\">Masai Russell<\/strong> came within <strong data-start=\"5136\" data-end=\"5152\">0.02 seconds<\/strong> of Tobi Amusan\u2019s world record earlier this season, running <strong data-start=\"5212\" data-end=\"5221\">12.14<\/strong>. She arrives in Lausanne for what promises to be an explosive race against compatriot <strong data-start=\"5308\" data-end=\"5327\">Alaysha Johnson<\/strong> and world champion <strong data-start=\"5347\" data-end=\"5367\">Ditaji Kambundji<\/strong>. The Swiss star is returning to full fitness after a recent thigh strain, while European contenders such as <strong data-start=\"5476\" data-end=\"5493\">Nadine Visser<\/strong> (Netherlands) will also be in the mix.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"1cvkjdp\" data-start=\"5534\" data-end=\"5565\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"5538\" data-end=\"5565\">Men\u2019s 5000m (9:00 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"5566\" data-end=\"6166\">Another race packed with quality, making predictions almost impossible. Bahrain\u2019s <strong data-start=\"5648\" data-end=\"5665\">Birhanu Balew<\/strong> is one of the leading contenders to attack the world-leading mark of <strong data-start=\"5735\" data-end=\"5747\">12:47.62<\/strong>. He is one of four athletes in the field who have broken <strong data-start=\"5805\" data-end=\"5814\">12:50<\/strong> this season, alongside Americans <strong data-start=\"5848\" data-end=\"5864\">Grant Fisher<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"5866\" data-end=\"5883\">Graham Blanks<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"5888\" data-end=\"5904\">Parker Wolfe<\/strong>. Swiss favourite <strong data-start=\"5922\" data-end=\"5940\">Dominic Lobalu<\/strong>, winner in Monaco, will enjoy tremendous home support. Will it become a tactical championship-style race or an all-out assault on the clock? No athlete has yet secured qualification for the Diamond League Final in this event.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"i8ixdl\" data-start=\"6168\" data-end=\"6200\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"6172\" data-end=\"6200\">Women\u2019s 800m (9:32 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"6201\" data-end=\"6792\"><strong data-start=\"6201\" data-end=\"6238\">The marquee event of the evening.<\/strong> Switzerland\u2019s new athletics superstar <strong data-start=\"6277\" data-end=\"6293\">Audrey Werro<\/strong>, whom many experts believe is capable of breaking <strong data-start=\"6344\" data-end=\"6371\">Jarmila Kratochv\u00edlov\u00e1\u2019s<\/strong> legendary world record of <strong data-start=\"6398\" data-end=\"6409\">1:53.28<\/strong>, returns to face <strong data-start=\"6427\" data-end=\"6440\">Femke Bol<\/strong>(Netherlands) and world champion <strong data-start=\"6474\" data-end=\"6490\">Lilian Odira<\/strong> (Kenya). The 22-year-old Werro is unbeaten this season and enjoying extraordinary form. She has selected Dutch pacemaker <strong data-start=\"6612\" data-end=\"6636\">Myrte van der Schoot<\/strong>, one of the very best in the business, to guide the early pace. Fellow Swiss athletes <strong data-start=\"6723\" data-end=\"6746\">Valentina Rosamilia<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"6751\" data-end=\"6772\">Veronica Vancardo<\/strong> complete the field.<\/p>\n<h3 data-section-id=\"13amzvz\" data-start=\"6794\" data-end=\"6824\"><span role=\"text\"><strong data-start=\"6798\" data-end=\"6824\">Men\u2019s 200m (9:41 p.m.)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"6825\" data-end=\"7167\">South Africa\u2019s <strong data-start=\"6840\" data-end=\"6861\">Sinesipho Dambile<\/strong>, the world leader this season, will look to continue his winning streak against Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"6959\" data-end=\"6977\">Letsile Tebogo<\/strong> (Botswana) and Zimbabwe\u2019s <strong data-start=\"7004\" data-end=\"7029\">Makanakaishe Charamba<\/strong>. Three-time Olympic champion <strong data-start=\"7427\" data-end=\"7443\">Rai Benjamin<\/strong> (USA) will make his only 400m hurdles appearance of the season after focusing primarily on the flat 400m. His return over hurdles could produce something special. In the 110m hurdles, newly crowned world record holder <strong data-start=\"7662\" data-end=\"7679\">Ja&#8217;Kobe Tharp<\/strong> (12.75) makes one of his rare European appearances, with European champion <strong data-start=\"7755\" data-end=\"7771\">Jason Joseph<\/strong> (Switzerland) eager to challenge him on home soil.
